This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our AI-powered multi-model consensus platform ("Service"). By using Zaps, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

When you create an account or use our Service, we collect:

  • Account Information: Email address, name (optional), and password (encrypted)
  • Query Content: The questions and prompts you submit to our AI Council
  • Conversation History: Your past queries and AI responses if you choose to save them
  • Model Preferences: Your selected AI models and configuration choices

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

When you use the Service, we automatically collect:

  • Usage Data: Query timestamps, credit consumption, model selection statistics
  • Device Information: Browser type, operating system, IP address
  • Performance Data: Response times, error rates, service availability metrics
  • Analytics: How you interact with the Service, feature usage patterns

1.3 Information from Third Parties

We do not collect information about you from third-party sources, except for authentication providers if you choose to sign in with Google, Facebook, or Twitter (when available).

3. How We Share Your Information

3.1 AI Service Providers

Your queries are processed through OpenRouter, our AI model aggregation service. OpenRouter routes your queries to various AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.) to generate responses. Your query content is subject to OpenRouter's privacy policy and the policies of individual AI providers.

Important: We do not control how third-party AI providers handle your data. We recommend not submitting sensitive personal information in your queries.

3.2 Service Providers

We may share data with trusted service providers who help us operate the Service:

  • Hosting Providers: To store and serve our application
  • Database Providers: To securely store your account and usage data
  • Analytics Providers: To understand service usage and performance
  • Payment Processors: To handle credit purchases (when available)

These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.

3.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law or to:

  • Comply with legal process (subpoenas, court orders)

4. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide the Service:

  • Account Information: Retained until you delete your account
  • Conversation History: Retained indefinitely unless you delete specific conversations
  • Usage Data: Retained for up to 2 years for analytics and improvement purposes
  • Deleted Data: Permanently removed within 30 days of deletion request

After account deletion, we may retain certain information for legal compliance, fraud prevention, or to resolve disputes.

5. Your Rights and Choices

5.1 Access and Portability

You have the right to access your personal data. You can download your conversation history as PDF files through the Service.

5.2 Correction

You can update your account information (email, name) through your account settings or by contacting us.

5.3 Deletion

You may delete:

  • Individual conversation histories through the Service interface
  • Your entire account by contacting support@zaps.ai

Note: Deleting your account will forfeit any remaining credits (non-refundable).

5.4 Opt-Out of Communications

You can opt out of promotional emails by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any marketing email. You cannot opt out of essential service-related communications (security alerts, Terms updates).

5.5 Do Not Track

We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals, as there is no industry standard for handling them.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

  • Encryption: Passwords are encrypted using industry-standard hashing (Argon2)
  • HTTPS: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted
  • Database Security: Access to databases is restricted and monitored
  • Regular Updates: We keep our systems updated with security patches

Important: No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

Zaps is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@zaps.ai, and we will delete it.

Users aged 13-17 must have parental or guardian consent to use the Service.

8. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. These countries may have different data protection laws. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other countries where we operate.

9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
